National Schools Podcast Competition is Back!

The National Schools Podcast Competition (NSPC) 2008, running for the second year, will see students from all levels competing to be the best in hosting their own show. This competition is brought to you by Elchemi Education and iSHOP by Club21 and supported by MDA, MediAction!, Mediacorp Radio and Podcast.sg.

This competition will allow schools to understand the technologies behind a podcast and how different media like video, audio, pictures and pdf files can be presented as a podcast and distributed for access by a general audience.

There will be a competition briefing on 16 February at 10am. Do email to rsvp@elchemi.net to reserve a space. Please include your name, school, contact no in your email.

In conjunction with the National Schools Podcast Competition 2008, we would be conducting a series of FREE podcast training for the students and teachers.

National GelaSkin Digital Art Competition 2008

With this Gelaskin Digital Art Competition, we hope to unveil the hidden artists in our midst and simultaneously offer our young artists a platform to showcase their digital competencies. This is an effort to accentuate creativity within the student community in Singapore through digital media.

The competition is made up of two rounds:
• Preliminary round, where participants register and submit the artwork in softcopy to the respective host school
• Final round, where shortlisted participants create an artwork on the spot using digital imaging software
A panel of judges from GelaSkins (Canada) in its sole discretion will select the top 3 Designs of each category on March 28, 2008 after watching a series of presentations put forth by the 12 finalists from each category via iChat.

Theme: “Seeing in the eyes of the Beholder”

Registration will begin on 28 January and close on 17 March 2008.

Digital Music Boot Camp

Elchemi Education is organizing a 2-Day Digital Music Boot Camp on 12 & 13 November 2007. This camp aims to introduce and provide the students with the know-how to create music composition on the Apple Platform. Students will be exposed to Mac OS X and learn how to use Garageband to create their own original music pieces. They will be able to use what they have learnt and create their own music pieces, ringtones and podcasts. To encourage the students to explore their creativity, we will also be incorporating a mini competition during the camp.
Details of the Camp are as follows:
Date: 12 & 13 November 2007
Time: 11am ~ 5pm (5 hours per day)
Venue: iShop, Cineleisure (To be Confirmed)
Course Fee: $100 per Student
Note: Bring your own earphones / headphones

Spaces are limited. Registration ends 26 Oct 2007.
Students will get a CD compilation of their composed work.

Elchemi Film Festival

Elchemi Education is excited and proud to organize it's first ever Elchemi Film Festival.

The inaugural Elchemi Film Festival (EFF) will see a different and fun approach to the seemingly endless video competitions out there. This event, an adventure race cum video making competition aims to promote original and creative videos.

The event is split into 3 parts; Race for the Elements, Elements for the Film and Film for the Showcase.

The 1st segment will take place on 27th October 2007, Saturday at 10AM. This will officially kick starts the EFF.

Programme Outline:
09:00 ~ 09:30 Hrs: Opening of EFF & Briefing
09:30 ~ 11:30 Hrs: Race for the Elements
11:30 ~ 12:00 Hrs: Closing

This is an exclusive event for the iDA infocomm Club (Apple Track) Secondary Schools. School may register up to 3 teams (max 4 pax) for this competition.
