Competition

The NSPC will require individuals to create a podcast based on any topic that they wish to embark on, with the following exceptions;

  • Religious
  • Political
  • Racial
  • Pornographic
  • Offensive to an individual or group

The competition will also be divided into 4 categories:

  • Students of Primary Schools
  • Students of Secondary School
  • Students of JC, ITE and tertiary level
  • Teaching staff of Primary, Secondary, JC, ITE and Tertiary Level

This competition will only be opened to schools in Singapore under the Ministry of Education.

Each individual is allowed only a single entry but each institution can have an unlimited number of participants. The podcast episodes will be hosted on Podcast.sg.

The competition requires each podcast channel to have at least 4 episodes, each being more than 30 seconds but should not exceed 3 minutes in time.

Rules

  • Students can only participate and be represented once.
  • No limit to the number of entries from schools.
  • Schools participating must be under MOE.

Duration of the competition

School can be made known of the competition as to prepare them. They may also start with the creation of their podcast. Information about the competition will be made known from Feburary onwards.

From 17th April to 16th May 2008, the podcast entries will be uploaded onto Podcast.sg for viewing and judging.

The closing date for all episodes should be submitted by the 10th April 2008.

Judging

Radio stations (987 FM, Y.E.S 93.3FM, Ria) that are involved will encourage listeners to subscribe to the podcasts. An indication of the quality of content would be judged based on the number or downloads to the various programs.

The podcasts will also be judged on content, content delivery, consistency of the uploads.

Panel of Judges will be made of invited members from MediaCorp, iSHOP, MOE, MDA & Elchemi Education .

Judging Criteria
• 20% Creativity
• 25% Use of Enhanced Podcast Medium (i.e. Video, Photo, PDFs, PPT)
• 40% Content
• 10% Marketing Brief
• 5% Subscribership/Sustainability

Workshops

There is a competition briefing on 16 February 2008 @ 10am.

In addition, there will be a series of 1-hr free workshops scheduled to prepare the contestants. See Schedule for more details.

Prize Presentation

Winners will be announced on 22 May 2008 at 1200 hrs on NSPC website.
